JManga site shuts down on May 30th

JManga, a platform for reading legal manga online, announced this week that it "will be concluding its retail and viewing services on May 30th 2013."

Members with unused JManga Paid Points as of March 13 will be issued Amazon Gift Cards.

Refunds will be processed between March 21 and March 25.

 JManga launched in August of 2011 as part of an initiative by the Digital Comics Association, an industry group of 39 Japanese publishers, and it became a worldwide service last year.

Manga Translation contest!

It is no surprise that for the high demand of manga readers outside Japan, The Digital Comic Association, in collaboration with Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs and JManga, have organized the world's first official manga translation contest, Manga Translation Battle 2012. J-Manga site will be up on August 17

One of the first great steps in the publishing of digital manga for global audiences will feature titles of 39 manga publishers. This is the official, legal way to read your manga online.

The Jmanga site will offer officially sanctioned online access to a wide variety of Japanese manga titles including ADEKAN, Cigarette Kisses, Crayon Shin-chan, Devil King, Dragon Girl, Kekkaishi, Manga Science, Naruto, Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru, Tujiurauri, and Young-kun.

This is a great opportunity to discover or read rare series that are difficult to find!
